For the first time in history, two women have held important management positions at the Israeli foreign intelligence agency Mossad.

Agent "A" is the first woman to take over the position of director of the intelligence service, as the Mossad announced on Thursday.

Previously, the official "K" had been appointed head of the Iran department - one of the most influential and highest positions in the organization.

Their exact names have not been released.

However, the secret service released a pixelated photo of "A".

She has worked for the Mossad for around 20 years.

The topics of her new position include the Iranian nuclear problem, global terrorism and the normalization of relations with the Arab world.

In addition, she is responsible for hundreds of employees who deal with the collection, research and analysis of intelligence information.

Equality between women and men

After the appointment, Mossad director David Barnea announced that the organization had “full equality between women and men”.

Climbing to management positions is open to everyone.

Many women have already served in all operational functions, such as agents.

In addition to “A” and “K”, two other women (“Y” and “H”) were recently appointed deputy department heads.

Officially, the Mossad is called the Institute for Reconnaissance and Special Tasks.

Spectacular actions are attributed to the service, but there has always been criticism of its approach.
