An arson case occurred in Lok Fu Village, Wong Tai Sin yesterday (18th), an 11-year-old boy was suspected of igniting clothes hanging outside the unit door with incense sticks in the corridor, causing two injuries, including a 66-year-old woman who was in critical condition by inhaling thick smoke.

The boy was arrested yesterday on suspicion of arson.

The life-threatening woman was sent to Queen Elizabeth Hospital for rescue, but it was postponed to 9:29 pm today (19th) and was confirmed dead.


The incident happened at 2:00 p.m. yesterday. Thick smoke was coming from a unit on the third floor of Ledong Building in Lefu Village. The female resident also inhaled smoke and became unwell, and the two were sent to the hospital for treatment.

After investigating at the scene yesterday, the police arrested an 11-year-old boy. It is suspected that he used burning incense sticks in the corridor of the upper site to set fire to the clothes hanging outside the door of the unit involved. The reason is unknown.

The boy was accompanied by his mother in a police car back to the police station yesterday.

The case is being followed up by the Wong Tai Sin District Crime Squad.
