The alternative accommodation is almost complete: At the beginning of September, the Holzkirchen middle school is moving from the dilapidated old building (front) to the container building a few hundred meters away (back right).

The moving date is getting closer: At the start of the new school year, the Holzkirchen middle school is moving into an interim building, a "container" school.

Teaching takes place there for three years until the new building at the old location is completed.

From September 1st there are only twelve days to ship the entire inner workings of a school.

"A sporting schedule," the mayor knows.

Holzkirchen

– After years of planning and despite the recent sharp rise in cost estimates, the market community is starting to implement its largest investment project since geothermal energy.

According to the latest forecast (June 2022), the demolition and new construction of the secondary school in Baumgartenstrasse will cost around 41.2 million euros.

Around seven million euros of the total costs are attributable to the alternative quarters: just a few hundred meters further south, on a meadow west of Baumgartenstraße, a “container” school has grown up.

"The interim building must be ready for occupancy by the end of August," says Mayor Christoph Schmid.

Then it's time to get the rooms ready for lessons by the first day of school on September 13th.

The distance to the old building is not great, "but relocating an entire school building should be exciting," believes the mayor.

Some new furniture is bought, which is then also used in the new building.

According to the schedule, the 300 students will be trained in the alternative quarters for three years.

Then another move is due: In September 2025, the new building should go into operation.

Currently, not even the container construction on the meadow is completely finished.

Around 300 modules form a three-storey, H-shaped ensemble, which houses 16 classrooms, among other things.

“There are currently three modules missing for a stairwell on one wing,” reports the mayor when asked.

The company Fagsi from Morsbach (North Rhine-Westphalia), a company of the Alho Group, which is one of the leading suppliers of buildings in container construction in Europe, was commissioned.

Schmid assumes that the company will meet the deadlines.

Demolition of the old building will begin in autumn

Only in the outdoor area, where, among other things, a playground, parking spaces and benches are to be created, it is possible that not everything will be ready for the first day of school.

As soon as the actual new building is occupied, the containers will disappear, as Schmid points out.

"There's nothing left.

We are renaturing and restoring a meadow that can be used for agriculture.”

Demolition will begin at the old site on Baumgartenstrasse in October.

The municipal utilities are already in the process of separating the supply lines between the elementary school, which has already been renovated, and the neighboring middle school.

In principle, Baumgartenstrasse should remain passable, says Schmid, "but sometimes closures will probably be unavoidable".

The new building, in whose spatial conception the teachers were involved, comprises 18 classrooms.

The municipality has recently experienced unpleasant surprises when it comes to costs: since October 2021, the calculation has increased from 23 to 37 million and most recently to 41.2 million euros.

According to Schmid, the increase in construction prices that is currently noticeable everywhere is mainly responsible for the latest jump of 12.5 percent.

Project-related, there were additional costs for a thicker foundation concrete slab, a wider staircase, an additional toilet on the ground floor and an additional flexibly designed partition wall.

Not only young people from Holzkirch can look forward to the new building.

Secondary school students from Otterfing, Warngau, Waakirchen, Weyarn and Valley are also assigned to the district.

Boy's party is on September 10th

Before the old building is approved for demolition in October, the old walls will experience two more lavish festivals.

The Holzkirchen-Erlkam fraternity and the association “Help for the street children in Mbour (Senegal)” did not want to miss out on the offer from the City Hall to use the demolition-ready rooms.

The clubs have planned two independent closing parties.

First, shortly before the start of the new school year, it's the boys' turn: On Saturday, September 10, they invite you to the prom in the middle school under the cheeky motto "One last time blue".

The party starts at 9 p.m., DJ Etact (Bayern 3), well-known from the radio, plays the DJ.

Three bars, including a themed bar, are planned.

“Many other specials” have also been announced.

Admission to the prom costs eight euros (including a welcome drink) and, according to the organizer, is only possible from the age of 18.

The former middle school rooms will be used again when the 1st Africa Festival in Holzkirchen is scheduled for the following weekend.

From Friday, September 16th to Sunday, September 18th, the association "Help for the street children in Mbour (Senegal)" wants to put on a colorful and happy Africa festival in the middle school.

The exact program has not yet been determined.
