Russian President Vladimir Putin announced today that the Russian and Kazakh defense ministries are preparing to conduct joint exercises within the framework of the Collective Security Treaty Organization.
“Our ministries, agencies and the Joint Intergovernmental Committee are working actively, adding: The foreign and defense ministries of the two countries are preparing to conduct various activities, including joint exercises within the framework of the Collective Security Treaty Organization,” RIA Novosti news agency quoted Putin as saying during his meeting with his Kazakh counterpart Kassym-Jomart Tokayev in the Russian city of Sochi.
The CSTO currently includes Russia, Belarus, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.
