The nephew of the executed Iraqi dictator was arrested in Lebanon • The man is suspected of ties to the terrorist organization ISIS and of committing massacres in Iraq

The social networks in Iraq have recently been in turmoil following the arrest of a relative of the former president Saddam Hussein whose regime was overthrown in 2003.

Saad Sabawi Ibrahim Hassan, Saddam's nephew, in a video online, urged human rights organizations in Arab countries and the world to intervene to find out the condition of his family member.

This is Abdullah Yasser Sabawi who has been detained in Lebanon since June because of suspicion of belonging to ISIS.

A Lebanese security source told the Saudi Al-Arabiya network that this is the grandson of Saddam's brother, who was arrested by the Lebanese security forces.

He is awaiting an order from a court that will decide whether to release him or hand him over to the Iraqi authorities.

On the other hand, a legal source told the Saudi network that it was decided in principle to release him after his detention period, since he holds the status of an asylum seeker in Europe.

According to Arab reports, Sabawi fled from Yemen to Lebanon with his family four years ago, apparently due to the bloody war there.

They settled in Yemen for years after the fall of Saddam's regime in 2003 with the US invasion of Iraq. Remember, later Saddam Hussein was captured and executed after a trial.

However, according to the Al-Arabiya report, last June the Lebanese security apparatus raided the family's apartment in the city of Jabil in the Mount Lebanon district.

Saddam's relative was then arrested on charges of belonging to the terrorist organization ISIS, and based on the demand of the Iraqi authorities to hand him over to them.

In this context, it is claimed that Sabawi is suspected of committing massacres in Iraq.

Recall that many of the officers of Saddam's regime joined ISIS over the years.

However, his uncle denies this - and says that he left Iraq at a young age.

According to him, he has not returned to Iraq since then and these are false accusations.

Now the family is asking for help from human rights organizations.
