The Rottacher Warmbad was always well attended.

It also offers the only sports pool in the Tegernsee Valley.

That's why the local council wanted to extend the season.

A decision that will be reconsidered.

Because there is no longer an indoor pool in the Tegernsee valley, the Rottach municipal council has decided to extend the warm pool season by two weeks.

Because of the gas crisis, the decision is under scrutiny.

Rottach-Egern

- After the closure of the Wiesseer bathing parks, Rottach offers the only sports pool in the Tegernsee Valley in its warm bath.

The water rescuers train here and schools can hold swimming lessons.

Because this is important, the Rottach municipal council decided to extend the Warmbad season by two weeks for the first time this year.

The pool is therefore open until September 25th.

A decision that is now being reconsidered in view of the expected gas crisis.

Management recommends closing at the end of the holidays

As Deputy Mayor Josef Lang (CSU) explains, the municipal council will deal with the issue of extending the season again at its next meeting on September 13th.

A recommendation from the administration is already available, reports Lang.

It says: As before, the pool should close in mid-September and not at the end of September.

"We will also discuss this with the emergency services and the schools in advance," says Lang.

Temperature lowered by one degree

The Rottacher Warmbad is heated exclusively with gas.

To save energy, the municipality lowered the water temperature by one degree at the beginning of the season.

The water is now 23 degrees in the sports pool and 27 degrees in the fun pools.

A very modest drop, as Lang notes: "I was in favor of lowering the temperature further."

The decision rests with the local council

Given the hot summer, there were no complaints about the cool temperatures either.

"When it's hot, it's good if the water is a bit fresher," says Lang.

Manager Gerhard Hofmann had already pointed out in advance that the savings from the reduced temperature are small compared to the costs of extending the season.

The manager made it clear that keeping the water in the pools at the right temperature in the autumn consumes a lot of energy.

In addition, the number of visitors after the end of the holiday should be low overall.

Arguments that now weigh even more heavily in view of the crisis, says Lang: "But the decision is made by the municipal council."
