The Sueca Investigating Court number 4, which is investigating the accident at the Medusa festival in the Valencian town of Cullera last weekend, where a 22-year-old man died and 40 other people were injured after part of the structure fell of the stage and of the accesses due to the wind, has received until this Friday the complaint of nine injured parties, according to the Superior Court of Justice of the Valencian Community.

Five of the complaints have been filed with the court and the other four with the Civil Guard and the National Police.

In addition, the family of the deceased young man has appeared in the case as a private prosecution.

A phenomenon called "warm blowout" caused strong gusts of wind on the night of Friday to Saturday in the venue where the festival was held and in which some 50,000 people were concentrated at the time.

It was four in the morning when the air blew up part of the side of the stage and knocked down the aluminum arches of the entrances, as well as other arches that indicated the services, among other structures.

One of them ended the life of a young man from Daimiel (Ciudad Real) and caused injuries to another 40 people, of whom more than 30 were treated in Valencian hospitals.

According to the latest information on the injured provided on Wednesday by the Ministry of Health, two of the young women injured are admitted to Valencian hospitals with spinal injuries and pending surgery, and a third is also hospitalized with a fracture of the tibia and fibula and also pending operation at that time.

The management of the festival, which canceled the event on Sunday, defends that it complied "with all the regulations contemplated in the laws and applicable to the celebration of this type of event" and had emergency protocols for incidents, with 11 emergency exits from 18 meters wide each, which "more than met the evacuation requirements."

After taking charge of the case, the judge sent an official letter to the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) in which he requested information and data on the inclement weather recorded in Cullera that night.

The objective of the judge is to clarify if there was any type of warning or forecast of the gusts of wind that occurred and if an alarm was decreed that advised the suspension of the event, which was definitively canceled after the collapse of the structures.

In addition, the judge has requested the documentation on the project and the authorizations, as well as an inspection of its execution.

The Aemet, in a report made public this Friday, refers to the "hot blowouts", such as the one that occurred during the Cullera festival concert, which have occurred this summer.

It is a phenomenon often associated with the presence of warm, dry air in the lower and middle layers of the troposphere.
