The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned the Israeli occupation forces' killing of an elderly Palestinian at dawn today in the city of Tubas in the West Bank.
In a statement carried by the Palestinian Wafa Agency, the Foreign Ministry stated that the murder of the 58-year-old Palestinian Salah Sawafta is a continuation of the daily series of killing and brutality committed by the occupation forces against the Palestinians and an escalation of their violations in the occupied Palestinian territories.
The Foreign Ministry called on the international community to assume its responsibilities and implement its relevant decisions to protect the Palestinians and end the occupation. It also called on the International Criminal Court to expedite its investigations into the crimes of the occupation and its settlers against the Palestinian people, stressing that violations that amount to war crimes and crimes against humanity against the Palestinians cannot be tolerated.
Sawafta was killed as a result of a severe head injury during the dawn raid on the city of Tubas and the town of Tammun in the south, and firing bullets and tear gas canisters at Palestinians, which led to him and another Palestinian being wounded and five others arrested.
