With the aim of blurring the truth and silencing mouths to cover up his daily crimes against the Palestinians, their sanctities and their property and to prevent them from being communicated to world public opinion, 479 new violations are added to the record of the Israeli occupation crimes against Palestinian journalists during the first half of this year.

The occupation’s practices against Palestinian journalists do not stop at the level of assault, beating and arrest, but amount to systematic killings, as the report of the Palestinian Journalists Syndicate reported today, recording 479 violations and crimes in the first half of this year, including martyrs, according to the Palestinian Wafa Agency.

The report indicated that the Freedoms Committee of the Syndicate monitored hundreds of violations during the past months, the most horrific of which was the assassination of journalist Sherine Abu Aqleh, in a clear message from the occupation to the world that it did not abide by all international laws and covenants and ignored them.

The statistics monitored by the report showed that violations against journalists varied between deliberate killing, arrest and targeting with bullets, as the occupation bullets penetrated 35 journalists, in addition to the travel ban, arrest and beatings, preventing them from playing their role in conveying the reality of the criminal occupation to the world, which had the largest share in terms of the number of registered cases 175 cases.

The report pointed to an increase in the frequency of violations over a period of time, as the number of violations in the first quarter of the year amounted to 192 violations, rising to 287 in the second quarter, explaining that attacks on journalists were not limited to the occupation forces, as the statistics showed a remarkable rise by settlers, with the protection of the occupation forces.

The occupation and its criminal attacks on journalists did not differentiate in its violence between male and female journalists, as the percentage of female journalists exposed to violations represented 14 percent, including the martyrdom of two journalists, Shireen Abu Aqleh, Ghufran and Rasna.

The Palestinian Journalists Syndicate’s report confirmed that the Palestinian Prisoners Club confirmed that the occupation forces continue to pursue and target journalists by shooting bullets and poison gas bombs, attacking them and arresting them as part of its policy aimed at obliterating the truth and silencing mouths to cover up its daily crimes against the Palestinians, indicating that 13 journalists are in the occupation’s prisons and are exposed To the worst types of physical and psychological torture, according to the Palestinian Ma'an Agency.

At a time when the Prisoner Club renewed its call for international human rights organizations to seriously intervene to put an end to the continuous crimes of the occupation against journalists and to ensure their right to practice their work, the Palestinian Journalists Syndicate, the International Federation of Journalists and the International Center for Justice for the Palestinians filed a lawsuit with the International Criminal Court regarding the systematic targeting of Palestinian journalists.

A report by the International Federation of Journalists in July last year indicated that the Israeli occupation had killed 46 journalists and media professionals from 2000 to 2021.
