Third league defeat in a row: Magdeburg is defeated by Hannover 96

Newcomers 1. FC Magdeburg continue to diligently distribute gifts in the second Bundesliga.

Against Hannover 96, the Elbe city team again made blatant defensive mistakes from which they never recovered.

Magdeburg – 1. FC Magdeburg is still waiting for its first home win in the 2nd Bundesliga.

In front of 23,908 spectators, the promoted team lost 4-0 (0-2) to Hannover 96, harmless up front and far too faulty at the back.

Maximilian Beier's opening goal (14th) put the FCM defense on him.

Luka Krajnc (44') headed in when goalkeeper Dominik Reimann intervened half-heartedly.

Sei Muroya (56th) and Cedric Teuchert (90 + 1st) made the final score.

After the poor performance at FC St. Pauli, FCM coach Christian Titz switched to three positions.

Among other things, center forward Luca Schuler celebrated his starting eleven debut after tearing his syndesmosis ligament in preparation.

The guests put pressure on Magdeburg at the beginning, but the FCM survived this early phase unscathed.

When the game had stabilized to some extent, the next individual mistake came from the promoted team: Silas Gnaka put a ball back in the penalty area, where 96 striker Beier was still standing after a previous attack - 0:1 (14th).

Magdeburg then tried to create their own chances to score, but when the Titz squad got through on the wings, they lacked precision with the last pass or even at the pass station.

In addition, the Elbe city-dwellers had to keep an eye out for the fast guest attackers, who could often overrun the FCM defense.

Except for a long-range shot by Leon Bell Bell (39th), which forced Ron-Robert Zieler to make a brilliant save, Magdeburg remained harmless and, to make matters worse, conceded the 0:2 before the break.

Even after the break, the FCM tried hard, but simply lacked the means to assert themselves against the guests who were now waiting.

There was no danger of scoring, but Hannover increased with the first chance to score after a counterattack.

The game was decided after less than an hour.

After five games, Magdeburg have only three points, but have already conceded a dozen goals.

The biggest shortcoming of the promoted team from the Elbe remains the individual dropouts, which not only prevented a better result against Hannover, but also against Düsseldorf and Holstein Kiel.

Now of all times the FCM has to compete with Kaiserslautern, who has already gained significantly more points.
