As a city on the water, Venice is an attraction.

This is one of the reasons why special rules apply there.

Two tourists now felt the harshness of the law.

Munich – The case was crystal clear from the start.

The crime caught on video.

Not really identifying the culprits though.

This is probably one of the reasons why Luigi Brugnaro pulled out all the stops and asked the public for help in the search for the two men who surfed the world-famous Grand Canal.

"Here are the two half-strong idiots who are making a laughingstock of the city," the mayor of the lagoon city raged in his tweet, which shows the surfers in a nine-second clip on the water: "I ask everyone to help us identify them." , so that we can punish them even if our weapons are blunt.”

In the same breath, the 60-year-old entrepreneur demands: "We urgently need more powers for mayors in matters of public safety!" Finally, there is the reward for whistleblowers: "I'll offer dinner to whoever discovers them."

Surfers punished in Venice: Swimming in the Grand Canal and lying on the shore can be expensive

Because the surfing session was a criminal offense under the ordinance of the Venice city police.

Swimming or jumping into the water is a misdemeanor and entails a fine of 350 euros.

After all, walking through the streets in bathing suits or shirtless costs 250 euros, even sitting or lying down on banks, on steps, bridges or high-water jetties can cost up to 200 euros.

It is about protecting the city and the countryside, safety and hygiene standards should be observed.

This is probably one of the reasons why Brugnaro was so keen to get the two surfers to reason immediately.

So not allowed: The Grand Canal in Venice may not be used for surfing or swimming.
