The weather in Hong Kong near Japan is unstable, cloudy and sunny.
The Observatory predicts that a broad trough of low pressure is affecting the northern part of the South China Sea and the coast of Guangdong. It is expected that there will be a few showers and thunderstorms in local areas today (20th).
The Observatory issued a special weather alert at about 3 p.m., stating that the thunderstorm area associated with the broad trough of low pressure continued to bring showers and squally thunderstorms to Hong Kong, and urged the public to be vigilant.
The Observatory expects that Hong Kong will continue to be affected by a trough of low pressure tomorrow (21st), and there will continue to be showers and thunderstorms. It is expected that the high-altitude anticyclone will intensify early next week, and the weather will be fine but very hot.
Next Tuesday (23rd) will be one of the 24 solar terms, "Summer". The urban area is expected to reach a maximum of 34 degrees, or it may become the hottest summer in the past 13 years.
However, in the next 9 days, the good weather may only last for one day. Starting from the middle of next week, the cloudy and sunny days will return, and the heat will continue.

According to the Observatory's automatic regional weather forecast, Tsim Sha Tsui, Sha Tin, Tseung Kwan O and Sai Kung, where the Observatory is located, have an 80% chance of rain in the next two hours, the highest among all monitoring stations in Hong Kong. Citizens who want to go out, remember to wear a cover, so as not to become a "fallen chicken".

The Observatory predicts that the temperature in the urban area today will range from 26 to 31 degrees Celsius. As of noon, a high temperature of 32 degrees has been recorded in many districts, including Tsing Yi, Tseung Kwan O, Sai Kung, Tai Po, Sheung Shui and Shek Kong.

There will be showers and squally thunderstorms in some areas in the morning and evening of that day. There will be sunshine and extreme heat in some parts of the day, and visibility will be low.
Showers and thunderstorms will increase next Thursday (25th), and the weather will have a chance to improve by next Saturday, but the weather will continue to be hot, and the temperature is expected to reach as high as 32 degrees.
