Roundabout, traffic lights, temporary bridge: preparatory work for the expansion of ED 5 begins

On Monday, August 22, the Freising State Building Authority in Schwaigerloh will start work on the expansion of the ED 5.

– In the course of the “Erdinger Ringschluss” project by Deutsche Bahn and the planned expansion of the Schwaigerloh commercial area, the Freising State Building Authority is expanding the ED 5 district road.
According to a statement from the authority, this is expected to happen from November between the connection with state road 2584 (connection to Munich Airport) and the Eichenstraße roundabout in Schwaigerloh over a length of around 850 meters.

However, before this work can begin, a bypass must first be created via Freisinger Straße between the district road ED 5 and the Südring airport from Monday, August 22nd, so that the ED 5 north of Schwaigerloh can be completely closed.
According to the press release, the Freising State Building Authority is remodeling the existing roads, footpaths and cycle paths in five places:
• The junction with ED 5/Freisinger Straße will be temporarily converted into a roundabout.
• The junction between Südring Flughafen and Freisinger Strasse will be converted into a temporary intersection with traffic lights and turning lanes.
• The median at the junction with St 2584/ED 5 will be provisionally asphalted.
• A makeshift bridge for pedestrians and cyclists is being built at the eastern interception ditch.
• The ED 5 itself will be partially dismantled in preparation for the construction of a bridge over the railway tracks.
During the work on the roundabout and on the southern ring road, motorists and cyclists must expect disabilities and restrictions.
A drive-through is probably always possible.
