In view of the rising energy costs, the Left Party is demanding winter money for all Germans.

Criticism hailed in the direction of the traffic light parties.

Berlin – Rising food and energy costs are a major concern in many households.

In addition, there is the gas levy decided by the federal government, for which citizens have to dig even deeper into their wallets.

That is why Die Linke is demanding direct relief for the German population.

"A winter allowance for all private households would be right: 1,500 euros and 600 euros for each additional household member," said Dietmar Bartsch, leader of the Left Party, to the

Rheinische Post.

According to Bartsch, pensioners and students in particular would benefit from this, “who as a rule do not have a bed of roses”.

Bartsch accused the traffic light parties of inactivity and cynicism in the relief debate.

The left calls for winter money: the traffic light coalition should take action

"It's five past twelve.

Instead of getting on people's nerves with cynical savings tips and embarrassing discussions about washcloths, the traffic light parties must present an effective third relief package at the end of the parliamentary summer break, which also takes pensioners and students into account," demanded the left-wing parliamentary group leader.

He was referring to the heavily criticized "washcloth tip" of Baden-Württemberg Prime Minister Winfried Kretschmann.

Gas is becoming more expensive, and the government is planning, among other things, to reduce VAT as a relief.

The traffic light coalition is currently discussing a new relief package.

Demands for direct payments also come from the Greens and the SPD.

The FDP is pushing for tax breaks in particular.

There are also different opinions on a successor regulation for the 9-euro ticket, which the FDP rejects.

"If the traffic light persists in its permanent discussions, which help zero point zero with the cost explosions, that would be a failure to provide assistance that would tear the country apart," Bartsch warned, looking at the discussions within the traffic light coalition.
