A strong thunderstorm partially paralyzed traffic in Weilheim on Thursday around 6 p.m.

There is also a severe weather warning for the region for Friday.

Update from August 19, 1 p.m.:

The storm warning with the risk of flooding in the Weilheim-Schongau district also occupies the Peißenberg market.

Mayor Frank Zellner therefore now points out that the facility for

self-filling of sandbags at the Peißenberg fairground

is available for citizens of the market community.

Sand, bags and shovels are provided on site.

"Precautions to secure the water drainage on the streets of the particularly neuralgic places in the village have been taken by the municipal building yard," says Zellner.

The situation is constantly being monitored and evaluated.

Current warnings are also available via the swarn-peissenberg.de system.

Weilheim

Some risked it, some turned around - and then stood in front of the next full street.

Heavy storm in Weilheim – DWD also warns of extreme continuous rain on Friday

Drivers had to watch out for huge puddles everywhere.

The integrated control center spoke of “five to six operations”, only Weilheim was affected – it could be a foretaste of Friday, when the German Weather Service warned of “extremely heavy continuous rain” in the entire district from 6 a.m. all day long.

As here on Weilheim's Schützenstraße, the water was in the underpasses.
