Last week, the Game Pass Twitter account teased that the game Death Stranding is on its way to service for PC players, and now we have an exact date when it will be available to subscribers: so save this coming Tuesday, August 23.
The game's distributor 505 Games released a statement: "The original version of the epic game that redefined the genre is coming to Microsoft's PC service, and will be available to Game Pass subscribers."
This means that much to the chagrin of players, the version that will be available on Microsoft's service (for PC only) is the standard version of the game that was originally released in 2019, and not the director's cut from last year.
The director's version includes new content that was added to the original experience: new equipment, new content, new missions and several other game mechanics.
Since Death Stranding was originally an exclusive title for the PlayStation at its launch (and only at a later stage came out to the Steam or Epik store), apparently the exclusivity contract with Sony on the director's version that allows Microsoft to provide it to users has not ended.

Death Stranding is creator Hideo Kojima's (Metal Gear Solid) last title after he was fired from Konami and started his own independent studio.
The game is considered particularly controversial in the industry, and the reactions were mixed: while there are quite a few players who swear that it is the most brilliant, revolutionary and amazing game they have ever played, there are also quite a few players who did not necessarily understand what the hype was about.
You can read our review of the game, and see for yourself.
Last June, Hideo Kojima announced a new partnership with Microsoft during the Summer Game Fest conference, stating that he is working with the company and using its resources and cloud technology to "develop his dream game."
Norman Reedus (The Walking Dead) who plays Sam Bridges in the game, stated that they have started working on the second game.
Kojima did not confirm or deny.
