“ADAD Theater and Folk Arts” troupe presented its theatrical work “Zahr Al-Rumman” on the stage of the National Theater in Tartous as part of the activities of the 2nd Amateur Theater Festival.

The show presented the idea of alienation and the resulting social issues of loss, longing and waiting in a dramatic manner with interludes of monologue and telepathy in a lyrical form.

The writer and director of the text, Leonid Aizouki, said in an exclusive statement to SANA that the idea of the work being shown for the first time and embodied by five amateur university students, among whom are those who stand for the first time on a stage based on the dialectic of immigration and what awaits immigrants from the contradictions of living in expatriate countries, thinking that travel is the only way To secure their future in light of the difficult conditions of life, and between the memories, family and lovers they left in their homeland, waiting for their return, likening the homeland to a pomegranate blossom, and that the most important message for work is that travel is not always the solution.

Jana Rahal, a student at the Faculty of Economics, embodied the case of a girl who, as a result of life’s pressures and problems, was forced to emigrate to keep the moments of nostalgia and longing for the homeland, her constant obsession with gathering music and working in exile with other expatriates, each of whom expresses the state of nostalgia he feels.

As for her classmate, Ali Kammoun, he played the character of the young lover “Zakher” who left his lover and left, so alienation took him with her temptations as the most common social issue among the young generation, considering his first theatrical experience gained him more courage and experience and gave him a great moral impulse to repeat the experience with confidence and strength.

A number of the play’s audience emphasized the value and content of the work, as it poses the most realistic problems in light of suffering from the results of a war that had a role in the migration of young people in the hope of creating a real opportunity for a better life and its effects, some positive and most negative, on their lives and their future.
