Denmark's capital Copenhagen has given up its goal of becoming the first capital in the world to be CO₂-neutral by 2025.
"It's super annoying that we won't make it in 2025," said Mayor Sophie Hæstorp Andersen to the radio station "DR".
The climate protection project is no longer realistic.
"I'm really sad about that."
Copenhagen has been promoting the ambitious climate target for more than ten years.
According to the broadcaster, the city has already reduced its CO₂ emissions by 80 percent.
However, a 100% solution can no longer be achieved within three years, said the mayor.
