There is a thick air between the Greens and the CSU.

There is a dispute about energy.

The two parties hold each other responsible for a possible gas shortage.

Munich/Berlin – The dispute between the CSU and the Greens is entering a new round.

There is a dispute about the energy supply.

Bavaria advocates the continued operation of nuclear power plants to compensate for possible energy bottlenecks.

The Greens, on the other hand, are striving to phase out nuclear power by the end of the year.

Federal Minister of Economics Robert Habeck criticized Bavaria's slow energy expansion.

Now the head of the CSU state group Alexander Dobrindt countered – the Greens chairman Omid Nouripour also spoke up.

Dispute over nuclear power phase-out: CSU rails against the Greens

Due to the Ukraine war, it is unclear how much Russian gas Germany will have available in the winter.

Politicians are debating how Germany can bridge gas bottlenecks.

From Bavaria, the demand for longer nuclear power plant running times is increasing.

"Instead of wasting valuable time, the federal government must decide as soon as possible to continue operating the nuclear power plants, order the fuel and make the power plants that were last shut down operational again," Dobrindt told the German Press Agency.

"The traffic light needs to move away from its notion of any moral energy and towards organization of reason energy," he explained.

“Holding on to the nuclear phase-out is a serious mistake.

With his ideological stubbornness, Habeck is provoking a blackout in Germany because he wants to take the nuclear power plants off the grid during a phase of the greatest energy shortage," he continued.

Habeck accuses Bavaria of slow energy expansion - CSU talks about "top"

On Sunday at the federal government's open day, Habeck criticized the fact that Bavaria's energy expansion was progressing too slowly and that the state was responsible for possible energy bottlenecks in winter.

CSU General Secretary Martin Huber, on the other hand, stopped.

He emphasized Bavaria's top position in the expansion of renewable energies and clearly criticized Habeck in an interview with the

.

The Vice-Chancellor has "no idea at all about Bavaria".

Bavaria is way ahead in the expansion of solar energy.

According to the Federal Network Agency, Bavaria has the largest net increase in solar radiation energy.

With 1,034.5 megawatts, Bavaria is clearly ahead.

However, if you look at the development of wind power, Bavaria is significantly further behind.

The net increase in wind energy this year is 8.9 megawatts.

For comparison - in Brandenburg the increase is 168.9 megawatts and in North Rhine-Westphalia 176.6 megawatts.

Bavaria is somewhere in the middle when it comes to wind energy.

Green Party leader Omid Nouripour also rejects nuclear power.

"The talk about re-entry, about nuclear power as an alleged future technology, is a fairy tale debate," he told the dpa.

"If Markus Söder had pushed the expansion of wind energy and power lines more consistently, the power supply in Bavaria would also be more secure," he criticized Bavaria's wind energy expansion.

Dispute over nuclear power plants: CSU urges quick decision

Habeck made it clear that nuclear power was not a long-term solution.

"This is not the cheapest technology, nor is it the safest technology to supply Europe and the world for the future." Habeck explained that longer running times reduce German gas consumption by around two percent.

We have other options," he said.

A stress test is currently examining how secure the power supply in Germany is.

On the basis of the results, a decision should then be made as to whether the three remaining nuclear power plants in Germany should be shut down or continue to operate.

The ARD Germany trend revealed that only 15 percent of those questioned were in favor of shutting down the nuclear power plants.

On the other hand, 41 percent supported the long-term use of nuclear energy.

Another 41 percent are in favor of extending the term by a few months.
