The Technical Chess Committee in Lattakia held a refresher tournament with the participation of 120 male and female players representing the governorates of Lattakia, Damascus, Tartous and Hama from different age groups.
Hamza Masoud ranked first in the men's category with 8 points, followed by Mazen Fendi with seven and a half points, Yahya Rawani came third, Zain Ibrahim fourth, and Ashraf Mualla fifth with 7 points each.
Masa Kebili came first in the women’s category with five and a half points, followed by Jessica Deeb with five points, then Sarah Hassan with four points, then Bilsan Shaddad, Qamar Shaaban, Hanan Al-Atrash and Rima Akili, each with 3 points.
In the age group competitions, Muhammad Darwish won first place with 7 points, then Jaafar Muhammad and Tariq Mahmoud, each with 6 points.
Head of the Chess Technical Committee in Latakia, Nayef Esber, said in a statement to SANA that the tournament is important because it is open to all groups, and it had good participation from players and players who represented a number of governorates, and it was a real test of the level of our players who will represent our team in the Arab Championship during the coming period.
