After termination without notice: Schlesinger sees himself as the victim - "politically motivated"

After the scandal surrounding the former RBB director Patricia Schlesinger, she was fired without notice.

However, she sees herself as a political victim.

Munich/Berlin - On Monday (August 22), the board of directors of Rundfunk Berlin-Brandenburg (RBB) announced that it had terminated the former director Patricia Schlesinger without notice.

Schlesinger was heavily criticized for her leadership.

She was accused, among other things, of holding private meals at RBB's expense and of having received a very high discount for her company car.

She was also accused of nepotism.

Now Schlesinger sees himself as a victim.

The RBB announced Schlesinger's termination without notice.

After the announcement of the termination, the 61-year-old spoke through her lawyer: "I regret this decision, which is obviously politically motivated in order to have a scapegoat.

This procedure is by no means covered by the facts.” She also said: “The investigations are far from over.

I look forward to their result with confidence.” Schlesinger and RBB previously gave up the ARD chairmanship.

A few days later she resigned as RBB director.

With Schlesinger's termination, her entitlements to old-age and survivor's pensions were also revoked.

There will also be no severance pay for them.

The chairwoman of the RBB board of directors, Dorette König, explained that the board of directors considers the relationship of trust with Patricia Schlesinger "due to her behavior as permanently destroyed".

The corresponding notification was published on the RBB website.

"I would like to make it very clear that Ms. Schlesinger is not eligible for a severance payment in connection with the early termination of her employment on the basis of the facts available," said Dorette König, Chair of the Board of Directors.

On Monday, the board of directors voted in favor of appointing an interim director.

"I do not want to comment on the specific reasons for the extraordinary termination without notice at the present time, as these will now first be communicated to Ms. Schlesinger and her lawyer," König further said.

"In our opinion, this is a requirement of a fair trial." The Attorney General's Office had started investigations against Schlesinger.
