The Civil Administration and Border Guard soldiers yesterday (Monday) destroyed 11 structures that were erected illegally in the area of ​​the archaeological site "Hasmonean Palaces" in Jericho.

The "Palaces of the Hasmoneans and King Herod" site is one of the most important archaeological sites found from the Second Temple period.

The site began as an agricultural estate in the days of Yohanan Hyrcanus I, his successors and King Herod, built magnificent palaces on the site that were used by them during the winter.
