The observatory expected an increase in the risk of drought in large parts of Italy, Spain, Portugal, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, Ireland, Luxembourg, Romania and Hungary, and in non-EU countries, namely Britain, Serbia, Ukraine and Moldova.

According to the observatory, 17 percent of the territory of Europe is currently included in the highest warning level, compared to 11 percent last July, considering that “the recent rains in the middle of this month have relieved the drought conditions in several parts of Europe, but in some areas the storms have caused damage and losses and may have limited the benefits.” Rainfall".

The observatory pointed out that the Mediterranean parts of the European Union must prepare for "hotter and drier than usual" conditions until next November.
