The installation of the Internet is not the only modernization project around Kilimanjaro, which sees more than 35,000 tourists undertake its ascent each year.
Last week, Tanzania had announced its ambition to build a cable car on the southern slope of the mountain, triggering a protest movement from some local expedition coordinators and conservationists.
If a traditional Internet connection makes it possible to consult useful sites (such as the weather forecast) or to contact emergency services, broadband will allow climbers to access social networks and online messaging.
Enough to post an Instagram story, a message on WhatsApp or even a humorous reels on Tik Tok, all on the rise.
Climbers, do not hesitate any longer to take out your smartphone: the view and the extraordinary landscapes will be waiting.
