Dr. Amr Salem, Minister of Internal Trade and Consumer Protection, stressed the importance of returning production to the suspended soy factories, in order to provide vegetable oil and feed for poultry and livestock breeders.
This came during a meeting of Minister Salem with the head of the Damascus Chamber of Industry and its countryside, Samer Al-Dibs, the head of the Homs Chamber of Industry, Labib the Brotherhood, a number of soy factory owners, importers, poultry breeders, representatives of the Ministry of Finance, the Central Bank of Syria, the Federation of Chambers of Agriculture and the Feed Establishment.
Minister Salem listened to the proposals of the industrialists to rehabilitate and restore soybean factories to provide feed and oils instead of importing them, indicating that the scarcity of feed and the rise in its prices led to damage to the poultry and livestock sector, and collective action must be strengthened to revive this sector and restore work in the stalled poultry houses.
The meeting came up with recommendations that will be submitted to the Economic Committee to contribute to increasing imported and locally produced soybean meal, oil, and creating greater opportunities for export.
