The Syrian Arab Republic has expressed its condemnation of the unprecedented escalation and policy of provocation practiced by France against the Republic of Mali.
In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates stated that "Syria condemns the unprecedented escalation and provocation policy practiced by France against the Republic of Mali, which was recently represented by the repeated violations of the Malian airspace by the French forces."
The statement stressed that: "Syria believes that these violations threaten peace and security on the African continent, as well as international peace and security, and that these criminal acts are an attempt by the old and new colonial powers to re-impose France's hegemony and control."
"Syria calls on the UN Security Council to assume its responsibilities to compel France to stop its grave violations and respect the sovereignty, territorial integrity and independence of Mali," the statement said.
The statement concluded, "Syria affirms its full support for the Republic of Mali, the leadership and people, in confronting attempts of external interference in its internal affairs, and it stands united with it in the face of these aggressive French policies."
