The prosecutor's office requests to extend Yitzhak Abergil's sentence Israel today

2022-08-23T11:37:21.072Z

The demand is to add the period of early release from his previous imprisonment • Some of the offenses in "Case 512" were committed during that period • The reasoning: during the license period he strengthened his position as the head of one of the most violent and murderous crime organizations in the history of the State of Israel

Following the conviction of Yitzhak Abergil and Aharon Sosan in "Case 512", the Central District Attorney's Office recently submitted a request to the Parole Committee in the district, to add to the prison term imposed on them in the case, the license period they previously received.

The license period is a period in which the prisoner was released after serving 2/3 of his sentence and certain release conditions were imposed on him in the last third of his imprisonment, as part of his license conditions.

If he violates the conditions imposed on him, he may return and serve the remainder of the sentence imposed on him within the prison walls.

The prosecutor's office requests that the license period be added to the prison term in view of the fact that some of the offenses for which they were convicted in "Chapter 512" were committed while they were prisoners on license.

As I recall, in 1987 Abergil was convicted, among other things, of murder, and was sentenced to 18 years in prison.

In 1999, the parole board ordered his early release under restrictive conditions.

In light of the above, Abergil was a prisoner on license until 2004. Sosan was convicted in 1998, among other things, for violent robbery, and was sentenced to 5 years and 7 months in prison.

In 2002, the parole board ordered his early release under restrictive conditions.

In light of the above, Sosan was a prisoner on license until 2005.

In July 2015, a wide-ranging indictment was filed against Abergil and Sosan, along with others, as part of "Chapter 512".

In November 2021, the two were convicted of serious crimes, some of which were committed during the license period.

Abergil was convicted, among other things, of three crimes of murder, the crime of being the head of a criminal organization, serious drug crimes committed as part of a criminal organization, money laundering crimes and many other crimes.

Sosan was convicted, among other things, of conspiracy to commit a crime and serious drug offenses committed as part of a criminal organization.

About two months ago, the district court sentenced Abergil and Sosan, and imposed prison sentences, compensation and fines on them.

Abergele alone was given three life sentences as well as an additional sentence of 30 years in prison.

Susan was sentenced to 12 years in prison.

In Abergil's case, it is claimed in the expropriation request that he is a prisoner who was released on early release, among other things based on his statements that he has changed his criminal lifestyle and that he intends to rehabilitate and turn a new page.

However, in fact, the prisoner took advantage of the period of early release in order to establish and strengthen his position as the head of one of the most violent and murderous crime organizations in the history of the State of Israel, and committed serious crimes during the period.

In the expropriation request in our case of Sosan, it is claimed that this is a prisoner who was released early from his fourth imprisonment, which was imposed on him for committing serious crimes, and this is based on his statements that he intends to change his ways and rehabilitate.

However, in a similar way, Sosan also took advantage of the trust given to him by the committee to commit serious drug offenses, on a large scale within the framework of a criminal organization.

It is further argued that the seriousness of the offenses committed by Abergil and Sosan, along with the fact that they previously earned the commission's trust and violated it, time and time again, show that the two should not be taken lightly and that the full term of the license should be forfeited.
