"Very proud": Team Regensburg celebrates triumph at the European Championships in Munich

The European Championships in Munich are history: The athletics event was also successful for three athletes from Regensburg.
Regensburg - The European Championships 2022 were a complete success for Germany - this also applies to "Team Regensburg".

With a gold and a silver medal and good placements, three athletes from the "Team Regensburg" represented the city at the European Athletics Championships in Bavaria's state capital.

Team Regensburg at the European Athletics Championships: "We are very proud"
The three athletes impressed with their running performance and did the very best advertising for Regensburg, according to the city in a press release on Tuesday, August 23.
Mayor Dr.
Astrid Freudenstein said of the successes: “We are very proud of our team members.
Of course we know that our small financial support is not solely responsible for the success, but we want to show our appreciation for the great commitment of the athletes.
They are the flagship for sport in Regensburg and make our beautiful city a little better known.”
Team Regensburg consists of up to 30 successful athletes who receive funding for their sport from the city.
The aim is to support regional so-called "local heroes" so that they can concentrate more on their sport and thus become fit for national or international competitions in the future.

Frenetic cheering, sold-out spectator stands at Königsplatz, packed streets at the marathon and cycle races, streams of visitors in the Olympic Park: the European Championships were a celebration for us!
Regensburger wins gold with the women's marathon team at the European Championships
Miriam Dattke, who narrowly missed out on the bronze medal in the photo finish of the women's marathon, laid the foundation for winning the gold medal for the women's marathon team with her time of two hours and 28 minutes, according to the city of Regensburg.
"A huge success for the young athlete, who only completed her second marathon in Munich."
Mona Mayer then competed in the 4x400 meter relay.
With her performance, she played a large part in the "excellent fifth place in the final," summed up the city.
The third team member representing the city of Regensburg at this international event was Simon Boch.
The long-distance runner, who only switched to the marathon in 2021, was not satisfied with his time of two hours 21 minutes and 50th place, but won the silver medal with the team.
