Eight months later, with Churchillian accents, he suddenly paints the future black.
Last week, speaking on the war in Ukraine, he called on the French to agree to
"pay the price"
for their freedom and their values.
To drive the point home, in such a dark register, he decreed, this Wednesday, before his government, the
"end of abundance and recklessness" in the
face of climate change.
We are living, according to him,
“a great shift”.
An observation does not make a policy
This brutal presidential pessimism can obviously be explained.
Climate, energy, economic, geopolitical, crises accumulate.
We are going through a time of endless crisis.
And the Head of State knows full well that the effects of this explosive cocktail can produce violent social instability.
