Lattakia firefighters put out a fire that ravaged a large area of forest in the village of Houran al-Bawdi in the Jableh countryside, in addition to several other fires in the province.
The head of the Forestry Department in the Lattakia Agriculture Directorate, Engineer Jaber Sukur, told SANA reporter that the al-Bawdi fire erupted on an area of five dunums of forest land containing conifers and broadleaf trees, in addition to a fire in the village of Kafr Dibil, which the members of the Forestry Department managed to put out with the help of the firefighting forces.
In a similar statement, the commander of the fire brigade in Lattakia, Lieutenant-Colonel Muhannad Jaafar, stated that a fire was extinguished in an agricultural land with an area estimated at four dunums of olive and lemon trees in the Al-Ma’isra area in the vicinity of Ghaniri village in the Jableh countryside, in addition to several fires of reeds and herbs in the Al-Tadamon neighborhood, the industrial area and at the Al-Qabo bridge. The Kiwi and Basisin neighborhoods in Jableh and the burning of cypress tree trunks in the Damasrekho Morouj area in the north of Lattakia.
