Herrsching - After two weeks of committed cooperation, the 30th International Seminar for Managers in Rural Youth Work 2022 ended with a welcoming speech from Federal Minister of Agriculture Cem Özdemir with a festive closing ceremony.

Under the motto "Ready to act - consciously accepting challenges", 75 participants from 39 countries came to Herrsching in the House of Bavarian Agriculture Herrsching.

The focus of the seminar, organized by the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL), was on developing skills, sharing one's own experiences, forming a network and developing personal action plans.

After intensive management training in English and French language groups, the focus was on how change can be shaped with the help of education and advice, in harmony with nature and the environment, in and with agriculture, society and rural areas.

Implementing new ideas at work in the home countries

A highlight of the seminar was the so-called world conference.

Here, challenges and possible solutions were discussed beyond language barriers, and experiences and best practices were shared.

Based on this exchange, the participants finally developed and presented personal action plans.

They serve as a first step for how each and every individual can bring the impulses and ideas gained, what they have learned and acquired into the work on site in their home countries and put them into practice.

This ensures that the seminar has a lasting effect on the participants and the sending organizations.

You are part of the future, which you will play a key role in shaping.

At the graduation ceremony, Dr.

Klaus Heider, head of department at the BMEL, and Gunther Strobl, seminar leader and director of the HdbL, present their certificates to the participants.

Here is an excerpt of the greeting from Minister of Agriculture Özdemir, as well as comments from the management, guests and participants:

Cem Özdemir, Federal Minister of Food and Agriculture, in a video message to the participants: “You are part of the future, which you will play a major role in shaping.

It is certainly enormous what new knowledge you have absorbed in these two weeks.

I can also imagine that in the course of the next few years you will keep coming back to this place in your mind and will be happy to draw on this knowledge.

Please get involved in the discussions about the future of agriculture, about questions of nutrition and the future of rural areas - with your ideas, with your creativity, with your leadership skills and with your willingness to make decisions."

Unique seminar with special people and goals

Gunther Strobl, head of the seminar and director of the HdbL: "After two weeks here in Herrsching, a probably unique seminar with very special people and very special goals is coming to an end today.

They have shown in an impressive way how fruitful cross-border exchange can be in every respect, how inspiring diversity can be.

I am convinced that this seminar had an effect on you and I am convinced that each and every one of you will have an effect, in your environment, in your tasks, in your country!"

Sustainable farming and agriculture is a key factor

Walter Heidl, Vice President of the German Farmers' Association and President of the Bavarian Farmers' Association:

"Strong, efficient and sustainable agriculture and agriculture are a key factor.

You, the current and future managers of rural youth work, play a central role in this.

How good that you are even better qualified for your tasks here in Herrsching, for taking on managerial tasks and responsibility.”

Anne-Kathrin Meister, Deputy Federal Chairwoman of the Association of German Rural Youth: “Every region needs young, committed people who have the courage to tackle projects and do so responsibly.

You, as participants of the 30th International Seminar, were also courageous and embarked on this adventure here.

You guys were committed to the cause and I'm sure you'll take a lot home with you, wherever that may be in the wide world."

Marthe Wandou, trainer from Cameroon: “Get out of your comfort zone, be self-confident, use your talents and the knowledge you have gained, motivate others – all of this starts today with the conclusion of the seminar!

May the network you have built here in Herrsching be a stepping stone to success in your different countries.”

Build a network for fruitful collaboration

Aminata Ganeme, participant from Burkina Faso: “Let's build strong networks between our organizations for fruitful cooperation.

Let's make the most of the achievements of this seminar.

On behalf of all participants, I would like to thank the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture and the organizers of the seminar, from the selection phase to the successful organization of the event.”

We-feeling developed and tasks mastered

Andreas Mensinger, participant from Germany: “Let's take another look around!

What we have created here, the sense of togetherness, cohesion and the ability to cope with the various tasks.

I wish all of us to take this experience home with us and to be able to draw the necessary motivation, strength and confidence for our action plans from it!”

dr

Klaus Heider, Head of Department for Rural Development and Digital Innovation, Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture: “We live in complex and often very confusing times.

The challenges are huge and stack up at the same time.

Your daily commitment at home, dear participants, and the contribution of the Federal Government in organizing this seminar are certainly only small pieces of the puzzle, but every long journey begins with the first steps.

It is an important task to show young people in the countryside and in agriculture a hopeful future with commitment and commitment, sometimes also to motivate them to shape their own lives.

Keep going in your home country, get involved, get involved.

You learned a lot here.”

Angela Kraus, deputy director of the seminar, the 30th International Seminar for Leaders in Rural Youth Work:

"Stay with your plans, stay with the friendships you have made here and stay with your dreams!"
