The meat is kosher - the labels are not: kosher bodies in Argentina come out to protect the importer Israel today

Due to a mistake in the stickers on the import packaging, the Chief Rabbinate forbade Nachum Schwarzman to continue importing meat to Israel • "This is not a forgery, this is a very serious fault"

Recognized kosher bodies in Argentina come to the defense of importer Nachum Schwartzman, after the Chief Rabbinate forbade him to import meat to Israel.

The ban was decided as a result of the discovery in stores across the country of about a hundred tons of meat that was slaughtered without supervision by the rabbinate from Schwartzman's importation, and was presented as kosher by the rabbinate.

Last week it was published in "Israel Hayom" that in an unusual step the Rabbis decided to ban him from importing meat to Israel for two years, because he presented the meat as kosher under their supervision, even though it was not.

Now several well-known kosher bodies in Argentina, where Schwarzman works, have rallied to his defense, and made it clear that this is kosher meat for all intents and purposes.

"I want to confirm that the team of slaughterers, inspectors and supervisors who were present at the place on the relevant dates were from Israel and Argentina, and I found them to be God-fearing, experts, skilled, honest and decent in their work, as required by Halacha and according to the procedures of the STAR-K Kosher organization, and accordingly we issued the Kosher certificate for the meat products ", wrote Rabbi Zvi Yehuda Halevi Holland, kosher manager of the STAR-K kosher organization who visited the slaughterhouse.

Rabbi Daniel Oppenheimer, rabbi of the "Akhdot Israel" congregation who is responsible for slaughtering and training at the factory, also clarified that this is kosher meat.

"I would like to confirm that all the meat slaughtered in the factory is under my supervision and supervision - both what was sent to the USA, both what was sent to Israel and what was sent to the factory for the production of meat products here in Argentina.

As Rabbi Nahum Schwartzman explained to me, a significant portion of the meat entered Israel by technical error with labels from the Chief Rabbinate of Israel."

Schwartzman himself contacted the head of the kosher fraud department, Rabbi Rafi Yochai, and clarified that although meat arrived in Israel with labels from the Chief Rabbinate, even though it was not under its supervision, this is not a kosher problem.

"From my in-depth investigation, some of the meat was mistakenly packaged with Israeli labels. There is no forgery of non-kosher meat here, but a mistake in the kosher labeling.

"Kosher slaughter has never been done without obtaining the approval of a Rabbi before the slaughter. This is a very serious human error, but it was not done in order to falsify kosher, chas and peace."
