Signs of violence were found on the body of the 27-year-old from Rishon Lezion, who was found in a orchard in Rehovot.
The suspect, a 20-year-old resident of Bat Yam, was arrested on suspicion of involvement in the case and will be brought tomorrow for a hearing on the extension of his detention.
According to those close to the deceased, there was a prior acquaintance between the young woman and the suspect.
After she went out yesterday and did not return, her family members filed a complaint about her absence this morning.
The young woman's body was found this morning by a passerby in a field near the streets.
A medical team that arrived at the scene had to determine her death, and according to estimates, she was stabbed.
Police officers who arrived at the scene collected findings to examine the background and circumstances, and the investigation was defined as a top priority.
The commander of the Rehovot police, Deputy Superintendent Dodi Miron, said that "this morning at 5:00 a.m. a report was received to the 100 call center about a young woman lying in an open area with signs of violence and no signs of life. The Rehovot police arrived at the scene and began an investigation."
MDA paramedic Meir Walder said: "When we arrived at the scene we joined the police forces.
The woman was without a pulse and not breathing, and after medical tests we had to determine her death."
