How often should items be washed (Facebook/Washland)

When it comes to washing our shirts, pants, underwear, towels, sheets and bedding - there really is no written rule.

However, any cleanliness addict will admit that they have a fixed time frame for washing specific items, which is usually wearing an item once and washing it.

Earlier this summer, laundry detergent brand Washland shared an instructional video talking about the recommended frequency of washing.

Surprisingly, the experts recommend washing less often than the norm, which sparked a heated debate on the Internet.

According to the video, socks should be washed after each wear (makes sense), but if it's bras, they should be worn 3-4 times before washing.

The shoe comes in shirts, when according to the environmental brand they should be washed only after 2-4 wears.

That is, only after you have worn the same shirt 4 times in a row - you must put it in the machine.

It doesn't end there.

The video recommends washing pajamas after 3-5 wears, bedding once a fortnight, towels once to twice a week and jeans only after 10 wears.

Is this the correct washing frequency?

The video gained over 9 million views on Facebook, with many cleaning enthusiasts left stunned by the recommendations.

"Ugh, you have to change the bedclothes twice a week. What do you mean only once a fortnight?!" wrote one in the comments and another added: "You have to wash shirts after every wear. Continuing to wear the same shirt 4 days in a row is repulsive."

Another woman agreed: "Wash shirts after 2-4 wears? Of course, if I want to smell like an armpit."

Another person wrote in the comments: "I wash my clothes after every wear. Bedding every five days. Your recommendations are against who you are."

Another added: "The clothes trap dirt and hair from one day of wearing. They cannot and should not be worn for more than a day before washing."

Another user wrote: "It's disgusting. I wash my clothes after one wear and I can't sleep in sheets that haven't been washed in a week."

Hand on heart: how often do you wash shirts?

After every wear, obviously

Depends on my sweat.

Usually after 2 wears

3-4 wears at least

Only when they start to stink

There were also some who supported the idea of giving the washing machine a little rest.

"A sane person doesn't wash clothes that often. It's a complete waste of time, water and electricity," wrote one in the comments, and another added: "How do you have time to do so much laundry? With the cooking, childcare, order and cleaning of the house, when do you have time?!".

Another clarified: "I wash things that need to be washed. I don't have a fixed frequency. If a garment smells good, then I'll keep wearing it, and if I've sweated and it smells bad, then I'll wash it. It's a waste of time to wash every item after one wear, but everyone should live according to their own beliefs." .

What do you say: maybe it's time to cut back on laundry?
