In recent years, disposable umbrella plastic bags used by citizens for convenience have become flooded. A survey conducted by the environmental protection organization Green Collar Action Circle inspected the branches and restaurants of 183 banks, including five major banks and some large chain restaurants, and found that more than 60% Umbrella plastic bags are provided to the public on rainy days, and BOC and Tan Tsai are in the worst situation.
The organization urges the government to legislate to regulate the distribution of plastic umbrella bags by 2025, and calls on organizations to consider the necessity of plastic umbrella bags, which have been replaced by more environmentally friendly ways.
The environmental protection organization Green Collar Action released an investigation report today (26th), inspecting 86 bank branches and 97 restaurant branches from July to August this year, and found that about 78% of bank branches and 46% of restaurant branches have set up Umbrella plastic bag machines, which provide plastic umbrella bags to the public, accounted for 60% of the total survey number.
The three banks that installed the most umbrella plastic bag machines were Bank of China, HSBC and Hang Seng Bank. The investigation and inspection of more than 20 branches of BOC and HSBC found that more than 90% of the branches had installed umbrella plastic bag machines.
In terms of chain restaurants, more than 60% of the 13 Tan Chai and 20 McDonald's have umbrella plastic bag machines, followed by Café de Coral, and more than half of the 22 branches have installed them.
The organization pointed out that umbrella plastic bags have caused serious environmental problems, and urged the government to regulate the distribution of umbrella plastic bags by 2025.
Xiao Yanyan, senior public affairs officer of Green Collar Action, pointed out that the installation of the umbrella plastic bag machine is equivalent to encouraging the public to use it, describing these devices as "one too many". At present, equipment such as umbrella water eliminators and hair dryers can replace umbrella plastic bags, and they are large and large. Some bank branches and restaurants have already used non-slip floors, and it is no longer necessary to distribute plastic umbrella bags to the public.

The Green Collar Action criticized some banks and enterprises for providing good services, but in fact they are pushing the responsibility of environmental protection to the public.
Green Collar Action has also sent letters to 13 government departments, and 9 departments have stopped distributing umbrella plastic bags.
Among them, the LCSD confirmed in writing this year that all indoor venues under its jurisdiction have stopped distributing plastic umbrella bags and provided equipment such as eliminators and umbrella stands.
