"In retreat but not in retreat": Mélenchon clarifies his position within the Insoumis

2022-08-27T12:57:02.952Z

After two months of absence, the former LFI candidate was on TF1 this Saturday, from Drôme and its "summer lecture halls".

He is no longer a deputy, which does not, however, prevent Jean-Luc Mélenchon from keeping his hand with the Insoumis.

This Saturday, the former rebellious presidential candidate in any case wanted to clarify his role in the party, during the "summer lecture halls" in the Drôme.

“I am in retreat but not in retreat.

I am in the debate, but in height”, summarized at the microphone of TF1 the politician, who also says he has “perhaps something interesting to say”.

After two months of absence, Jean-Luc Mélenchon has not abandoned the conflictuality: from the Drôme and its "summer lecture halls", on Friday he promised for the return to politics "the general battle" against the government, and considered that a "countdown to the dissolution" of the Assembly had begun.

An appointment "for a great march against the high cost of living"

Friday, in an improvised press briefing and which overshadowed the debate between Minister Clément Beaune and MEP Manon Aubry in the media, the third in the presidential election (22%) also promised the government “the general battle” at the start of the school year.

“I invite everyone to meet in mid-October for a big march against the high cost of living.

We are launching a campaign to tax super-profits, tax those who gorge themselves in an ocean of misery, ”he said on TF1 this Saturday, criticizing Emmanuel Macron’s remarks on the end of abundance.

Indeed, in his eyes “the government has decided to be frontal” by preparing “to govern with a blow of 49.3” without an absolute majority in a fragmented Assembly.

But as “the last legislative elections in June do not conform to the state of the country”, “French political life is a countdown towards the dissolution” of the National Assembly and new elections.
