Forty-five people were killed and 111 others were injured in floods caused by monsoon rains in the past 24 hours in Pakistan.
The Xinhua news agency quoted Pakistan's National Disaster Management Authority as saying in a report today that the southern province of Sindh was the most affected, with 33 people killed and 98 injured, followed by the northwest province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where ten people were confirmed dead and 13 others were injured, while Punjab province reported East of the country with two deaths.
The authority stated that the total number of victims in Pakistan as a result of monsoon rains this season since mid-June reached 982, while the number of injuries reached 1456, and the floods caused the destruction of 682,139 homes, 149 bridges and 122 shops.
