In our large Oktoberfest series, find out the stories of the Wiesn employees after a two-year break.
Today: A musical all-rounder from Schottenhamel.
Munich – Maximilian Gutsmiedl (32) is actually a research assistant at the University of Regensburg.
But during the Wiesn he slips into a different role.
Then it's 17 days away from research and full throttle in the Schottenhamel marquee.

The studied musician has been part of the regular band Otto Schwarzfischer in Schottenhamel since 2009.
He is a musical all-rounder: he usually sings and plays the guitar.
But he can also play many other instruments and therefore always jumps in where there is a need.
Bass, trombone, drums – Max plays.
This Wiesn is a new challenge for him.
This year, for the first time, an additional, second band will play in the Wiesn tent in the evening: Südherz.
Together with his colleague Michael Waltner, he takes over the management of the ten-piece band - and is the lead singer.

The two bands work closely together and so Max will continue to play for both.
“Everyone is one big family at the Wiesn.
I missed that a lot.” And everyone knows that the atmosphere in the tent also depends to a large extent on the music – “and of course the beer,” jokes Max.
So on a Oktoberfest evening with a party atmosphere, Gutsmiedl and his colleagues also have to keep an eye on the tent visitors – can they still?
Or would a quieter number be appropriate again, so that the guests can relax?
"Basically we have a set list for every evening, but you also have to be able to spontaneously slip in one or the other number," he says.
When everyone sings along, shouts and celebrates, Max and his colleagues are happy.
That's one of the things he missed the most during the two-year Oktoberfest break, he says.
"Especially these goosebump moments on the first and last day." Despite all the effort, he was always quite sad that it was over." Despite the ailing vocal cords after more than two weeks of singing.
Max doesn't have much time to rest this year either.
Because shortly after the Wiesn, the new semester at the university starts again.
