That the Russian propaganda machine defames the West is nothing new.

This time it went well below the belt against Olaf Scholz.

Munich/Moscow - Russia's propaganda has turned against Chancellor Olaf Scholz - using a tasteless comparison to Hitler.

Vladimir Putin's top propagandist Vladimir Solovyov showed a video on his show in which Scholz climbed into a Cheetah anti-aircraft tank for a press event.

The SPD man did this during his visit to the training program for Ukrainian soldiers on anti-aircraft gun tanks in Putlos in Schleswig-Holstein.

Germany is delivering 30 of these tanks to Ukraine.

For Solovyov, the comparison with Nazi dictator Adolf Hitler was not far off: "He just wants to be like his mustachioed idol," says Solovyov.

The moderator imitated Hitler's way of speaking, switching between Russian and stereotypical German: He trumpeted phrases like "Ja Ja Ja", "Deutsche Panzer", "Herr Scholz", "Panzer ja, very good".

Russian State TV: Nazi comparisons below the belt

Unfounded allegations and below-the-belt comparisons are not uncommon for Russian state television.

For months, the state has been trying to incite its citizens against the West.

So the insults continued: "There's a Nazi scumbag who got away." And: "Scholz courts Banderites (a Russian propaganda term for Ukrainian fighters, editor's note) in Germany, but he also climbs up Tank.

He completely followed his idol.

He just wants to be like him.

Just put on a little hat and grow a mustache.” He also shows Scholz and Hitler on tanks.

Also not for the first time he threatened Germany with a direct attack.

"I have a question for us: if we know that there, on German soil, Nazis are training Banderites to use German military equipment, why should we wait for them to show up on the front lines?

So why shouldn't we consider them a legitimate target?

Why shouldn't we attack the terrorists of the Ukrainian Empire there if they are training in Germany?” Russian propaganda refers to Ukrainians as “Nazis” because the Soviet Union defeated the Nazis in World War II—and now against the Nazis— Conqueror from Russia fights.
