For a long time, the beer garden of the former Rössle brewery, right next to the city wall, lay fallow.

Now the Brauhaus team wants to revive it for the current season.

Schongau

– A few weeks ago, the “Garibaldi” restaurant in the old town of Schongau closed its doors.

The associated beer garden, which has not been used in recent years, is now to be awakened "from its slumber".

That's the goal of the brewery team headed by master brewer Stephan Albrecht (22).

Under the title "Pop-Up Beer Garden", the square on the historic city wall is to "pop up" again, i.e. be open again at short notice - and in good weather for the rest of the season," explains Albrecht.

Always Thursdays to Sundays, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.

He announces that fresh beer and soft drinks will be available at an affordable price.

And as befits a Bavarian beer garden, you are welcome to bring your own food.

In times of rising prices, a cheaper gastronomic stay could perhaps be made possible, says Albrecht.

If you like, you can also choose from a small selection of snacks on site.

The concept aims to appeal to families and groups as well as spontaneous visitors.

This is how the pop-up beer garden in Schongau came about

"You know each other," explains Tyll-Patrick Albrecht from the Brauhaus, explaining how the collaboration with the owners came about.

Of course, we would have liked to have started earlier.

But that was initially not possible because of the predecessors.

Then applications had to be made and technical issues had to be clarified.

Albrecht hopes that there will still be a few beer garden days.

Getting the project up and running in a nutshell is child's play for the brewery.

"That's our daily business," says Albrecht.

You have everything you need in terms of equipment.

About a dispensing system.

The A and O of a beer garden for Albrecht, namely "old trees, a great location and tradition", are also available.

Also: As "the only brewery in Schongau" they stand, so to speak, in the tradition of the Rössle brewery", which is why the brewery would now like to take over the beer garden and contribute to the city's revitalization.

The owner family Seitz is also very happy about the spontaneous cooperation, "from which perhaps more can develop," the Munich-based company said in a statement.

(By the way: everything from the region is now also available in our regular Schongau newsletter.)

Supporting program in the Schongau pop-up beer garden

The beer garden is scheduled to open for the first time on Thursday, September 1st.

Master brewer Stephan Albrecht invites you to a so-called "soft opening" from 5 p.m.

Although the brewery team is still working on the supporting program to fill the beer garden with life, some events have already been scheduled.

For example, there will be a performance by the band "HomeMade" (September 17, 6 p.m.) and an October beer tapping (October 8, 6 p.m.).

The master brewer is also looking forward to tapping his special beer "Novid'19" (September 2, 6 p.m.

As a highlight, the team announces the "summer in the city", which the Albrechts had planned for the weekend from September 9th to 11th anyway.

Instead of on Mayor-Schaegger-Platz, the whole thing now takes place in the pop-up beer garden - "We can kill two birds with one stone there," says Marion Albrecht, who takes care of the events in the brewery.

"Then we don't have to block parking spaces either." On Saturday there's a Bavarian evening with the "5-Seen-Blattl Musi", on Friday a concert by "Oimara".

Because the Albrechts expect high demand for the latter, tickets must be purchased at www.reservix.de.

If the weather is bad, the concert will take place in the Brauhaus.

Otherwise, the following applies to all events in the pop-up beer garden: "Just come".
