Weather warning for Bavaria: Heavy thunderstorms possible - heavy rain, hail and gusts

It's going to be uncomfortable again this weekend.

The German Weather Service (DWD) has issued preliminary information about severe weather before severe thunderstorms, valid from Friday (12 p.m.) to Saturday (0 a.m.).

It says: “From Friday morning, strong, sometimes severe thunderstorms will develop locally.

Due to their low train speed, heavy rain of up to 40 l/sqm within one hour must be expected in a very limited space, with even higher amounts probable in isolated cases (extremely heavy heavy rain)."

The weather service cites local stormy gusts (around 70 km/h) and hail with a diameter of two to three centimeters as further “accompanying phenomena”.

Due to the heavy rain, local flooding can occur, so basements can fill up or underpasses can be flooded.

The DWD has published preliminary information.
