Almost a month after the $1.34 billion Mega Millions lottery draw, and the lucky person who purchased the winning ticket has yet to claim his money.
In the lottery industry they say that it is not uncommon for some time to pass from the moment the numbers are announced until the winner arrives to receive his winnings.
"When it comes to such a large prize, it's not uncommon for the winner to not claim the prize right away, while they certainly consult with legal and financial experts beforehand," Megan Powers, a spokeswoman for the Illinois Lottery told NBC News.
"I'm sure the winner is very emotional," Illinois Lottery Director Harold Mace said earlier this month.

The winner purchased the ticket in Des Plaines, Illinois at the end of July, so he has to comply with Illinois Lottery rules, which allow a year to claim the prize.
"Illinois winners have a year in which to claim the award," Mace said.
But if the winner does not arrive to receive the prize by the end of July 2023, the money will return to the state's lottery companies.
The prize in the Mega Millions lottery competition is the second largest prize in the history of the game.
The Mega Millions company's biggest prize - $1.537 billion - was won by a man in South Carolina on October 23, 2018, and is the world's largest lottery prize on a single ticket.
