They fell in love while hiking many decades ago and have been a couple ever since.

For 60 years Klaus-R.

and Helga Witschel married in Kleinberghofen.

And still happy.

Kleinberghofen – Since 1970, Helga and Klaus-R.

Witschel in Kleinberghofen and have experienced wonderful times in their new home.

This year there was another highlight: her 60th marriage anniversary, which was duly celebrated in August on Fraueninsel am Chiemsee.

The love for the mountains brought them together.

Because Klaus and Helga Witschel were both in the Alpenverein Isartaler.

"When hiking at an altitude of 2,500 meters, sparks sparked," laughs Helga Witschel.

In 1962, the couple married in the Catholic Church of St. Maximilian in Munich's traditional Glockenbach district and moved into their first apartment together in Bogenhausen.

Her two daughters Angélique-Christine (56) and Nicola-Alexandra (54) were baptized there in the former village church of St. George.

Luck has never left them in the 60 years, even though building the house in Kleinberghofen cost both of them a lot of energy because of their jobs.

Klaus R.

Witschel (83) was an engineer in Munich, his wife Helga (85) was a teacher at the Erdweg school for 33 years.

A great joy for the couple are their two grandchildren Katia and Luca, who are now living independently.

The Witschels are still in love and inseparable.

The couple was always considered: "The two in a double pack".

They both say that they are infinitely grateful to their Lord God for their happiness and full life.

Erdweg's Mayor Christian Blatt brought the Witschel couple warm greetings from the Bavarian Prime Minister Markus Söder as well as gifts from the municipality of Erdweg and the Dachau district administrator Stefan Löwl, who, with a quote from Albert Camus: "To love a person means to consent, to grow old with them to become” has found the right words.
