Jews passed through another gate to the Temple Mount for the first time: "This is a positive precedent" | Israel today

For the first time, Jews passed through the Tribal Gate, which is located north of the Temple Mount. • Although this is an unofficial entry, the Temple Mount movements see this as a positive precedent.

A group of Jewish worshipers ascended the Temple Mount for the first time this morning (Sunday) through the Gate of the Tribes, in the north of the mountain.

The group entered through the tribal gate and was accompanied by the Temple Mount officer, this after part of the group was previously taken out of the same gate.

It should be noted that this is currently only an unofficial entry, but this constitutes a precedent that proves, according to the Temple Mount activists, that there is no fear of admitting Jews through this gate

This is the first time that Jews have entered in many years other than through the Maghreb Bridge.

In the past, it was claimed that entering through the Gate of the Tribes could agitate the area because it is allegedly a violation of the status quo on the mountain.

The Jews, on the other hand, claimed that it was not agitation at all, and a real need, among other things because the Moghurab bridge is dangerous for aliyah.

It was previously published in "Israel Hayom" that an opinion stated that the bridge is not safe for pedestrian traffic and should be closed until renovations are carried out.

For many years now the Moghurab Bridge has not undergone a massive renovation, as it should be, due to political considerations.

A jump in the number of pilgrims to the Temple Mount

"The entry of the Jews this morning through the Tribal Gate proves that there is no truth in the intimidation and claims that if we only implement sovereignty and freedom of movement and worship on the Mount, something terrible will happen," said Tom Nisni, CEO of "In our hands for the Temple Mount". "This morning, Jews entered through the Tribal Gate smoothly and without any problem.

This precedent must first be applied on special and busy days when the entrance from the Hillel Gate - the Mughals cannot accommodate the thousands of Jewish pilgrims to the mountain.

This is a positive precedent on the subject."

The Temple Mount points out that in the last year there has been a real jump in the number of pilgrims to the Temple Mount.

As of last week, since the beginning of the year, more than 44,000 people have climbed the mountain.

On the occasion of Rosh Chodesh Elul, which fell today, and is known as the "month of mercy and forgiveness", quite a few Jews came to the mountain, and these are expected to continue to flow to the place throughout the month, so it can be estimated that by Rosh Hashanah the number will exceed the 50 thousand visitors per year mark.
