Two people died in a fire in an apartment building in Apolda.
The fire broke out in the early hours of Sunday.

Eleven others were injured, including two firefighters.

A 53-year-old tried to save himself from the flames by jumping out of the window and died.
Hours later, firefighters found another body in the home.
The police were initially unable to provide any information on their identity.

The fire brigade rescued 30 residents from the burning house with turntable ladders and safety cushions.
According to MDR Thüringen, they were standing at the windows calling for help because the fire made it impossible for them to escape through the stairwell.
The fire broke out in the attic for an unknown reason and then spread to the whole house.
Several emergency calls were received around 3:30 a.m. Sunday morning, police said.
When firefighters arrived, the attic was on fire.

Fire drama in Thuringia: apartment building uninhabitable after fire
The house is said to be uninhabitable.
The property damage was estimated by the police at around two million euros.
Alternative accommodation is being sought for the residents.
No information has yet been given about the cause of the fire.
The investigations continued.
More than 110 firefighters were deployed.
