The lawyer for the president of Peru, Pedro Castillo, said that he asked the Police Inspectorate this Thursday to investigate the actions of Colonel Harvey Colchado, head of the detective team that works together with the Prosecutor's Office in the cases that involve the president.

According to the document presented by the lawyer Eduardo Pachas before the police inspectorate, Colchado would have violated article 117 of the constitution during the search of the Government Palace to carry out the preliminary arrest of Castillo's sister-in-law, Yenifer Paredes.

According to the document, Colonel Harvey Colchado, in the course of this intervention in the presidential residence, would have reviewed documents classified as "state secrets" (p. 2 of the complaint), and "would have caused unnecessary damage" to the residence of the President. and to individual freedom, for which he asks that the Police initiate a "disciplinary process, open an investigation and at the end of it, apply a very serious sanction as a result of his being retired."

In statements to local media, Pachas wondered if the colonel was authorized to "go to the office or bedroom of the President of the Republic to review his secret documents and investigate him."

CNN is seeking comment from police and Colchado on Castillo's attorney's request.

None of them has spoken publicly until this Friday about Pachas's comments.

After the raid on August 9, Castillo denounced Colonel Colchado and the prosecutor who led the operation in the Government Palace, considering that only the Attorney General could have carried out this procedure.
