A terrible truck accident has occurred in the Netherlands.
A trailer truck has come off a dike and crashed into a barbecue.
There are several dead and injured.
Rotterdam - It was a barbecue among neighbors - people were celebrating.
At 6 p.m., a truck drove into the crowd.
For initially unknown reasons, the semi-trailer truck went off the road, slid down a slope from the dike and crashed right into the people who had gathered there for a neighborhood festival on Saturday evening in the village of Nieuw-Beijerland (Netherlands).

At least two people died in the accident, several injured were taken to the hospital, the police said on Saturday evening.
“There are still dead people under the truck.
The investigation is still ongoing," a press release said.
An exact number of victims is not yet available.
The broadcaster NOS reported at least three dead and several injured.

According to the local police, the truck driver was taken into custody and taken to a police station.
It is a 46-year-old from Spain.
His role in the accident would be investigated.
According to their own statements, the investigators want to keep all scenarios open and collect facts.
In the meantime, the driver of a white van, who was at the intersection shortly before the accident, also reported.
The police are hoping for information about the course of the accident from the possible witnesses.

"You can imagine what a blow it is: during a neighborhood festival, a truck drives into this group of people, the shock is enormous," said a police spokeswoman for the Omroep Rijnmond broadcaster.
The community is taking care of the numerous witnesses to the terrible events.
A special company was commissioned to salvage the truck.
Only then could experts recover the dead underneath.

The accident happened near an intersection.
The rather narrow streets run along a dyke, at the foot of which the festival was in progress.
"It's a very close-knit village community here in Nieuw-Bejerland," Mayor Charlie Aptroot told NOS.
The accident was a terrible blow for the residents.
“People want to know how their relatives or close friends are doing.
But there is no complete overview yet.”
Around 100 people had registered for the festival organized by an association, a local resident told Omroep Rijnmond.
Another neighbor spoke of "complete chaos".
Everyone was in a panic.
Everyone wanted to help.
"But there were an awful lot of injuries."
