Yevgeny Palitsky, head of the Zaporozhye District Administration, announced that the region's authorities are ready for any developments that may occur at the nuclear power plant and have drawn up a plan for the emergency evacuation of residents.
The Russian RIA Novosti news agency quoted Palitsky as saying today that "the nuclear power station is currently operating normally, and the level of radiation in it is within its natural limits, while we have prepared for any development of the situation, and therefore we have put in place a plan to evacuate the population in the event that it becomes necessary."
Balitsky pointed out that the station has been bombed almost daily since July 18 by the Ukrainian forces, at a time when Ukrainian artillery is bombing the station from the towns of Marganets and Nikopol, located on the right bank of the Dnieper River, causing damage to the station's aid systems and life support facilities in the city of Energodar.
Russian President Vladimir Putin said during a telephone conversation with French President Emmanuel Macron last week that Ukraine's bombing of the Zaporozhye nuclear plant threatens to cause a large-scale catastrophe.
