A week after the death of two teenagers in Lyon (Rhône), a new accident which occurred this Sunday evening in Bouafle (Yvelines), adds to the list of victims riding electric scooters.
A 42-year-old woman from this town located near Les Mureaux was violently hit by a driver around 6:30 p.m., while she was riding her scooter along rue Maurice-Berteaux.
According to the first testimonies collected by the gendarmes of the territorial brigade of Ecquevilly, the motorist, who was driving aboard a white Toyota, hit the driver of the scooter as he arrived in the area at a speed excessive.
The victim suffers from injuries to the skull
Abandoning his victim on the road, the man fled in the direction of rue des Charmettes, a few meters further.
It was the neighborhood survey carried out by the gendarmes and the use of images filmed by the city's video surveillance that led to the arrest of the driver, a few hours after the accident.
Aged 39, living in Bouafle, he had borrowed his father's car, whose registration appears on the video surveillance.
The author of the accident is still in custody on Monday morning.
Supported by firefighters, the victim was transported to the Poissy hospital center.
She suffers from skull injuries and was bleeding from the ears.
Two teenagers killed in Lyon last Monday
Last Monday, in Lyon, the two teenagers who were victims of a fatal collision were traveling on a lane reserved for buses and two-wheelers.
Aged 15 and 17, they were hit by the driver of a private ambulance, who was going on an emergency response, at the request of the Samu.
