Exchange of fire in Nablus: security forces raid the house of a wanted man

This morning (Tuesday), the security forces are raiding the house of a wanted man in the city of Nablus, and according to the IDF, there was an exchange of fire with Palestinian armed men. The house, which is raided by forces of the Israeli Defense Forces and the Paratroopers Brigade, belongs to a wanted man who shot at the Shebi Shomron settlement last week.

The clashes come hours after a shooting attack at Joseph's Tomb in the city, in which two worshipers who entered the compound without coordination with the IDF were injured. One of the worshipers was moderately-severely injured, and the other lightly. They entered the compound together with three other worshipers without permission, and were rescued by forces The IDF were called to the scene.

The five hid about two blocks away from the compound waiting to be rescued, after they had to abandon their private vehicle that burst into flames following the shooting.

The security forces moved them to a checkpoint located north of Nablus - from where the wounded were taken to the hospital by helicopter and ambulance.

The identity of the shooter, or shooters, is still unknown.

The head of the Samaria Council, Yossi Dagan, called on worshipers who come to Joseph's Tomb to enter the compound only in coordination with the IDF. "Unfortunately, any uncoordinated entry is a danger to lives," he said. "I call on the IDF to lay hands on the terrorists and eradicate the nests of murderers in Nablus."
